Rochester Community Schools athletes are already deep into summer training across all three high schools, with volleyball players, dancers, wrestlers, and cheerleaders putting in work weeks before the fall season opens.
The district showcased four programs in a social media post on Tuesday, July 28: Rochester High School volleyball players posing in the gym beneath championship banners, roughly 15 Stoney Creek varsity dancers in matching light blue leotards outdoors, youth wrestlers drilling takedowns on a blue mat with coaches, and Adams JV cheerleaders working out in a gym.
It wasn't a one-off.
A week earlier, on Monday, July 20, the district posted images of summer camps and conditioning already underway, including volleyball players and Adams basketball athletes.
Wrestling camps draw young Falcons and Cougars
The youth wrestling action lines up with two camps listed in the RCS Summer 2026 Enrichment Brochure. Coach Erik Vernon led the Rochester Falcon Youth Wrestling Camp for ages 6–13 at Rochester HS Auxiliary Gym from July 21–23, with three sessions at $70. A Premier Academy of Wrestling camp ran July 27–30 at Stoney Creek Auxiliary Gym, with four evening sessions for $125.

Adams cheer carries championship pedigree into summer
The Adams JV cheerleaders working this summer are part of a program competing in a district that has dominated MHSAA Division 1 competitive cheer. Stoney Creek's varsity squad completed a three-peat at the MHSAA Finals on March 6 at Central Michigan University's McGuirk Arena, scoring 789.94 points. Rochester finished second with 789.52, and Adams placed third at 789.16.
Coach Tricia Williams, in her 23rd year leading Stoney Creek's competitive cheer program, won her fifth Finals championship that day.
"Things haven't been going our way this year, but these girls never stopped believing in themselves," Williams said after the March 6 title. "They peaked at the state finals, and I couldn't be more proud of them."
Rochester's fourth-year coach Samantha Dean saw her squad post the best Round 3 score in the state (321.80) to vault from fifth to second. Between the three RCS schools, the district has claimed 10 of the last 11 Division 1 titles.
The Stoney Creek varsity dancers shown in the July 28 post are a separate program from the competitive cheer squad, though both train through the summer.
What's ahead
Students return to class on Monday, August 24. If 2026 follows prior-year MHSAA scheduling, fall sports practices would begin around mid-August, with volleyball competition opening in late August. That puts these summer sessions just weeks from the real thing.
