Rochester city residents can cast their ballots for the Tuesday, August 4 primary starting Saturday, July 25, at City Hall Council Chambers, 400 Sixth Street.
The early voting site will be open nine consecutive days through Sunday, August 2, though hours for Saturday, August 1 have not yet been posted on the city's calendar. Most days, hours run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exception: Thursday, July 30, when the site opens at noon and stays open until 8 p.m.
The city posted the schedule on its website Thursday, July 23, directing voters to the city's election page for ballot details, voter registration resources, and a precinct map.
Important distinction for neighbors: Rochester City Hall serves City of Rochester voters only. Residents of Rochester Hills and Oakland Township should head to the Rochester Hills Public Library, 500 Olde Towne Road, according to The Oakland Press.
Michigan's nine-day early voting requirement stems from Proposal 2, the constitutional amendment voters approved in November 2022. Once a ballot is fed into the tabulator at an early voting site, it cannot be changed or spoiled. All results are reported after polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Day.
In the November 2024 general election, more than 60 percent of Michigan voters cast ballots by mail or at early voting sites, according to a Michigan Department of State report.
The Early Voting Canvass is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers. Voters with questions can call City Hall at 248-733-3700.
