Oakland University women's soccer hosts Rochester Christian University for Senior Night at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Oakland Soccer Field in Rochester.
The matchup pits two Rochester-area programs against each other for the first time since 2012, according to Oakland Athletics. It is only the third meeting in series history. Oakland outscored RCU 25-0 in the two prior games.
Rochester Christian University, located in Rochester Hills, enters the week at 1-3 after picking up its first win of the season, a 4-0 victory over Cincinnati Clermont on Aug. 30. Junior Aliana Perez leads the Warriors with four goals through four games, accounting for half the team's scoring output.
Oakland's defense has allowed five goals through four games, ranking third in the Horizon League in goals-against average (1.25). The Golden Grizzlies have surrendered more than one goal in just one game this season.
Offense has been harder to find. Oakland has scored in only one match, ranking fifth in the league in shots on goal per game (4.00). The Golden Grizzlies lost their most recent outing 0-1 to Toledo on Aug. 27. Lilly Boebel ranks in the top 10 in the Horizon League with five shots on goal.
Before Sunday's home finale of non-conference play, Oakland visits Kent State on Thursday, Sept. 3, for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Kent State enters at 1-3-1 and on a four-game winless streak after falling 0-1 to Duquesne on Aug. 30. The Golden Flashes have allowed 10 goals, the most in the Mid-American Conference, at a rate of two per game. Jules Dolinski is Kent State's lone multi-goal scorer with two.
Oakland holds just one win in eight all-time meetings with Kent State. Last season's contest ended 1-1.
The Kent State and Rochester Christian games are two of Oakland's final three non-conference matchups before Horizon League play begins. After Senior Night, the Golden Grizzlies travel to Valparaiso on Thursday, Sept. 10, then open league play at home against Cleveland State on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
Sunday's Senior Night kickoff is 7 p.m. at the Oakland Soccer Field.
