Glenn and Katie Wilhelm have opened Harrison's, a wood-fired pizza and steak restaurant, at 401 S. Main St. in downtown Rochester.
The restaurant fills the corner of Fourth Street and Main Street, a space formerly occupied by D'Marco's Restaurant & Wine Bar. Glenn Wilhelm also owns The Roxy Rochester, the live entertainment venue at 401 Walnut Blvd.
Wilhelm told WXYZ that watching Roxy patrons eat at other downtown spots before shows pushed him into the restaurant business. He called Harrison's a place for both date nights and family dinners.
The menu is built around steaks, pasta, burgers and a wood-fired pizza oven that turns out pies topped with fresh basil, sea salt and olive oil. The restaurant’s ordering menu lists lemon-pepper pasta with grilled salmon, Parmesan and spinach.
The Detroit Free Press reported the restaurant also offers an extensive wine list by the glass or bottle. Happy hour runs 4–6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the bar, with French onion soup at $6 and a smash burger with fries at $12.
Signature cocktails include the Honey and Thyme, Blackberry Heat and the Harrison Spritz, according to WXYZ.
Tami Salisbury, president of the Rochester Rotary Club, told WXYZ the restaurant helps fill out a thriving downtown. "We're happy to have no vacancies in downtown Rochester," Salisbury said.
Juliane Morian, library director at the Rochester Hills Public Library, praised the atmosphere and location, noting both the dining room and window seating overlooking pedestrian foot traffic.
Wilhelm said his family's roots run deep in the community. He and his wife, Katie, live in Rochester. Their children attend Rochester schools. The couple's hospitality portfolio, according to the Harrison's website, includes two restaurants and The Roxy, with another entertainment venue coming soon to Berkley.
Harrison's is open for happy hour and dinner, with menu and contact information available on its website.
