A Pontiac man faces mandatory life in prison after an Oakland County jury found him guilty on all counts Monday, July 20, in the June 2025 drive-by shooting death of an Auburn Hills man.
Tremaine Jevon Love, 32, was convicted of first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and two counts of felony firearm, according to WDIV. The verdict came after a week-long trial that began Tuesday, July 14.
The victim, Thomas Jerrell Washington, 26, of Auburn Hills, was shot near Auburn Avenue and Russell Street in Pontiac in June 2025. Witnesses told authorities a man in a gray car fired several shots before fleeing the scene, according to police.
Washington was struck in the wrist, torso and back. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police recovered multiple shell casings at the scene.
Arrest came hours later
Love was arrested the same day during a traffic stop near Middlebelt and Long Lake roads in West Bloomfield Township, hours after the shooting, police said.
The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office charged Love with the five felony counts. First-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole under Michigan law.
Sentencing set for August
Love is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, in Oakland County Circuit Court.
The case was prosecuted in Oakland County, which also encompasses Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township.
