Oakland County residents who have OakGov.com bookmarked will need to update their browsers after the county switches its official web address to OaklandCountyMI.gov on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The county announced the change on X on Monday, Sept. 14, and a sitewide banner on OakGov.com is directing visitors to a transition page with details.

Existing OakGov.com links will continue to work after the switch, according to the county. Residents who access county services, pay property taxes, or look up government contacts online should not lose access to those pages.

The transition page title references email addresses moving to .gov as well, suggesting county staff email addresses may also shift to a new domain. The county has not specified whether resident-facing email contacts will change or stated a reason for the switch.

The county's transition page at OakGov.com lists what changes before the Sept. 19 switch.
