Christopher Jean-Léger equalized in the 40th minute to earn Oakland University men's soccer a 1-1 draw at Robert Morris on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The Golden Grizzlies trailed after Anelson Azard scored for the Colonials at the 35:10 mark at North Athletic Complex in Moon Township, Pa. Jean-Léger answered five minutes later, finishing at 40:17 off assists from redshirt freshman Cal Kurzawa and Kinan Abdulrazzak to level the match before halftime.

Oakland controlled play for most of the afternoon. The Grizzlies outshot Robert Morris 14-8 and put five attempts on goal to the Colonials' one, according to Oakland Athletics. Both totals exceeded Oakland's season averages.

The second half belonged almost entirely to Oakland, but the finishing touch never came. Julian Kanzler opened the half with a shot, and Kurzawa forced Robert Morris goalkeeper Josh Lane into a save in the 65th minute before testing him again in the 76th.

Oakland's best stretch came late. The Grizzlies generated eight attacking chances between the 76th and 88th minutes. Tyler Marsden put a shot on frame in the 85th. Jean-Léger and Jayden Pinheiro added attempts in the closing minutes. None found the net.

Robert Morris nearly stole it at the end. Riley Cotton's shot hit the left post in the final minute, keeping the score level.

The draw was Oakland's first road conference match of the season. Combined with a 2-0 win over Cleveland State on Sept. 9 and a 1-1 draw against Northern Illinois on Sept. 12, the Grizzlies are 1-0-2 in Horizon League play through three matches.

Jean-Léger led Oakland with four shots, one on frame, and scored the lone goal. He earned a Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week award in 2025. Kurzawa, who won the same honor on Aug. 31 after a two-goal performance against UIC, recorded an assist and put both of his shots on target.

Azard, who was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8, scored the only Robert Morris goal. He entered the match with four goals on the season.

Oakland has never lost to Robert Morris in a regular-season match across 10 all-time meetings.

The Golden Grizzlies return home to host IU Indy at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Oakland Soccer Field in Rochester.
