Families moving into the Rochester Community Schools district this summer have one key task before classes begin: register their children through the district's online enrollment portal.
Rochester Community Schools posted a reminder on X on Tuesday, July 28, urging new families to complete the process ahead of the Monday, Aug. 24 start date. The district had posted a similar message on Monday, July 20. The first day of school will be a half day for all students.
Students already enrolled in RCS, from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, do not need to take any action.
The enrollment portal covers all grade levels, TK through 12, and is live now at rochester.k12.mi.us/enrollment. The district has not published a specific cutoff date, saying only that enrollment must be completed before school starts. The district's online enrollment page was updated as recently as Tuesday, July 28, confirming the portal is active for the 2026-27 school year.
Device pickup for new students
New students, along with incoming sixth and ninth graders, can pick up district-issued devices on Wednesday, Aug. 5 and Thursday, Aug. 6 at the RCS Administration Center, as we reported earlier this week. Completing enrollment before those dates would allow new families to participate in device distribution nearly three weeks ahead of the first bell.
School year calendar
Teachers return on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The 2026-27 school calendar was set through collective bargaining between Rochester Community Schools and the Rochester Education Association, with major holiday breaks aligned to the Oakland County Common Calendar.
