Three groups of Rochester Community Schools students need to pick up their school-issued devices before the 2026-27 year begins, and the district is giving them two days to do it.
RCS announced on its official X account Monday, July 27, that device deployment will take place Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 6, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at the RCS Administration Center on Dequindre Road in Rochester.
The pickup is limited to three specific groups:
- All students new to Rochester Community Schools in grades 1 through 12
- All students entering grade 6
- All students entering grade 9
No other students need to attend. The district stated that deployment is "ONLY for the following student groups," meaning families outside those categories do not need to show up.
The timing gives families nearly three weeks of lead time. The first day of school for all RCS students is Monday, Aug. 24, a half day, according to the district's published 2026-27 calendar. Teachers return Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Students entering sixth grade are transitioning into middle school, and those entering ninth grade are moving into high school. Both transitions typically involve a new device assignment under the district's 1:1 program.
New students: enroll first
Families who are new to Rochester Community Schools must complete online enrollment before the device pickup. The district posted a reminder on Facebook that new students should enroll at www.rochester.k12.mi.us/enrollment. No action is required for students already enrolled.
