Rochester High School's annual Falcon Frenzy tailgate is back on the calendar for Friday, Oct. 9, after weather wiped out the original date in early September.

The free, family-friendly event runs 4–7 p.m. at Rochester High School in Rochester Hills, ahead of the Falcons' varsity football game against Athens at 7 p.m. Rochester Community Schools announced the reschedule on its official social media account.

The district first posted the new date on Sept. 15 and repeated the announcement the following week.

What happened in September

The Falcon Frenzy was originally set for the evening of Thursday, Sept. 3. Rochester Community Schools canceled the tailgate that night, saying the football game could continue if weather and conditions allowed. The Rochester vs. Rochester Adams varsity football game went on with a delayed 8 p.m. kickoff at Rochester High School.

The district did not announce a makeup date until nearly two weeks later.

Part of a district-wide series

The Falcon Frenzy is one of three communitywide fall tailgate events Rochester Community Schools hosts across its high schools each year. Adams High School held its Gold Rush tailgate on Sept. 11, with free family activities starting at 4:30 p.m. The Gold Rush featured inflatables, face painting and a sensory-friendly "Gold Hush" zone with therapy dogs and a silent disco.

Stoney Creek High School followed with the Celebration at the Creek on Sept. 18, offering free games, performances and a sensory-friendly area from 5–7 p.m. Both events required paid admission for the football game.

The Oct. 9 Falcon Frenzy completes the series. The district described the tailgate activities as free and family-friendly, though specific attractions have not been announced.

The Oct. 9 matchup against Athens, out of Troy, is an Oakland Activities Association league game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
